Jess graduated from University of Aachen, Germany in 2004 and began her career in a highly respected clinic in Cologne, Germany. In this role she had a broad range of experiences, working with post-surgical patients, specializing in rehabilitation of professional athletes, managing and tailoring rehabilitation programs for professional athletes in high level sports like soccer, basketball, football, ice hockey hand- and volleyball.

In 2011 Jess immigrated to Australia and has since been converting her degree to Australia. In 2016 she joined a private Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic at the Northern Beaches. During her time there she has continued to develop her expertise with injured sportspeople and she also developed her skills with Pilates, teaching 3-5 classes per week.

Jess’ focus is centered on both sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, concentrating specifically on acute, chronic and overuse injuries including neck, back and pelvic pain, with a special interest in knee and ankle pain and dysfunction, supplementing both active as well as functional exercise regimes. She is an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association which allows her to participate in regular specialty professional development courses, which ensure constant exposure to ongoing advances in all fields of practice. Most importantly she is passionate about encouraging everyone to enjoy sustainable health – a little extra effort with self-care definitely generates a boost in happiness!

      • Tuesday 8am – 4 pm

What to expect from a treatment

Your first appointment with Physiotherapist Jessica Schlaak will take around 30-45 minutes, and includes a detailed medical history, a physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and the development of a treatment plan.

Jess’ philosophy is to enhance people’s lives on a daily basis by restoring people’s health and motivating them to make the necessary changes for a full and active life. She recognised that healing and health comes from within the body, needing only a little help from the outside to unlock it. Jess will facilitate and inspire these changes.

Ongoing treatments generally last 20-30 minutes and may involve a range of techniques including:

      • Soft tissue work
      • Joint mobilisation
      • Stretching
      • Fascial stretching
      • Functional exercise prescription
      • Gait analysis
